All images belong to the copyright holders and are used under fair use. There is no excuse for hot boxes anymore since the solution is so stupidly simple. You strap down a rubber hose on top of each adapter block. You then connect the hose to the train air line. When the bearing overheats the heat is transferred to the adapter block which will melt the rubber hose dumping the air.

Based F40ph driving yiffers straight to hell. Its glory is so awesome that even steam enthusiasts have no choice but to kneel.
As a British train enthusiast. This video even for me brings back memories and I always come back to this video whenever I get into the American mood. I really hope one day I can come over to the states and see these great behemoths of machines in person.
That looks so creepy
Where can i buy one of those ?
Best bet would be www.silentservant.com/intro.html
The Star Fox meme was my fav in this video
F40PH never dies!!!!
Best day of the week
Now THIS is what formers should be excited about.
SDP40F: I was the face of Amtrak, and Look at Me now. I was outdated as soon as HEP was implemented. ☹️ P30CH: Some people don’t know I exist. Still, at least I was able to work longer, but I was still no match. 💀 EMD E & F units: We are Old timers, and we have pioneered Diesel passenger trains for many different railroads. We are happily enjoying retirement. Best of luck to our replacements.
Yiff in hell. ♥
I have to say I enjoy the intentionality behind the design of each movement, as well as the spacing, and shading to add to dynamics of the motions and sound. Like many long dead white guys, I can appreciate their work and hate their character.
their work will always be white, unlike you
Why does this honestly have better animation then the cartoons today?
Walt Disney actually dedicated alot to it, even selling his stuff just to produce it, its all about the effort, and nowadays, noone like to put any effort to it
@@CoiboiXD that was the best answer ever, thank you

VIA Rail Canada still relies on the F40 on its Hudson Bay train. Tough enough for the arctic!
The F40PH is a gigachad. Try to run away all you want, you can never escape the wrath of the EMD F40PH. The F40PH has many variants and will never die off.
Interesting
Redo this video. You can’t hardly see anything you are showing us. 👎🏽
Can't redo this video as I sent that mechanism off shortly after filming it. If you have any questions on hand power done later they'll feel free to ask and I might have something that I could get some video of.
Good thing there’s F40s in my local passenger service

Ah yes, some classic internet.
Happy 16th F40ph Friday everyone.
why only know im recommended this?
This meme and locomotive is one of the only reasons why I don't have the Amtrak in my disliked railroads
wierd
Is the building active (in-use), but the elevator is defunct (but largely intact)? Is this in MA, or a different state? The hand lever device is purely mechanical (moving the lever actuates shipper ropes in the hoistway), correct? I consider something like this to be an amazing piece of history. I hope they don't remove this.
Yes it is in Massachusetts, And the building is active This was just an elevator in the back maintenance stairway. Most of it seem to be there notably missing was the annunciator faceplate and I have a suspicion to elevate a mechanics love to swipe that stuff whenever is a decommission an elevator. And again you're right the lever manipulates the ropes to open and close the valve. There's a bunch of free ebooks about water powered elevators that address all this stuff.
It's the Damn Train himself!
I used to work on them. In NYC
What is the last time you saw one? Do you know if any might still be in service?
@@upanddownadventures I don't if there any more running
@@upanddownadventures If you want to find it out you need to find out what government organization in New York has jurisdiction over elevators and then file a freedom of information act to get that list. I did that for Massachusetts and got a bunch of juicy information.
neat name for an elevator company.
Congratulations, Rowan & Heather!!!! 💕
kinda find it funny how the F40PH Friday meme started when the Genesis locomotives already took over
More like Geneshit
Thanks for the memories… watched this with my train family when 1st came out. F40ph is still favorite and gets better with age.
If you like the F40PH you should follow the F40PH Preservation Society.
i want to visit the trolley museum. Heather's response is the best part.
Even if Amtrak no longer uses them, the F40PH is still in use by commuter services and short lines even today. Heck, they even survived Chicago Metra's attempt at replacing them with the MP36PH3-C due to their superior reliability over their would-be replacements - Metra still runs the MP36PH3-C, but it never became the primary workhorse of their fleet, the F40PH still holds that honor. And it will probably still continue to hold that honor, as the SD70MACH is primarily intended to replace the aging F40C and MP36PH3-C.

The F40PHHHHHH WILL RISE AGAIN
I wonder if that elevator would work as a Faraday cage.
F40PH for the win
i feel like a time traveler coming across this video again.
Amtrak really fumbled the bag on these engines
Bright sunny day.. An easy assumption on my part would be expanded rail. had the same thing happen this summer. lucky had no issues the next day.
that might be a part time creek.
IM STILL HERE
All lit up and full of junk.
Well considering it's used for storage it's doing its job well.

Still working on it. MBTA has two for sale.
